The Russians Are Coming!
Actually they came in 1966 when this winner of the Golden Globe
award for Best Comedy was released. When a Soviet sub gets stuck
off the coast of New England the Cold War goes from bad to
mirth. The crew pretend to be Norwegian sailors and enlist
locals to help them get moving again. Enjoy a laugh with Alan
Arkin, Jonathan Winters, Carl Reiner, Brian Keith and hosts
Jane & Eric Ellingson. Film begins at
7:15 pm on Wednesday at the Ramada. |
Firing up for the Fourth!
Plans are set for the Independence Day celebration at the
Ramada. Bring five pictures of George Washington for your dinner
or one picture of Alexander Hamilton for you and a partner.
(That's $5 or $10 for those of you who only use debit cards.)
Be there at 4:30 pm on Monday, July 4th
for drinks followed by sloppy joes, chips, cole slaw and
whatever assortment of desserts arrive with participants. |
Thanks Ben!
EE's Board unanimously agreed to thank board secretary
Ben Sheffield for his devotion to the completion of the
new storage shed. Ben constantly coordinated contractors and
artfully arranged inspections to keep the project humming.
An introductory card with Ben's picture on it will be sent to
his wife Mona to help him transition back to the home-front. |
Wonder Who's Watering?
Wonder who keeps our new plantings going when the dry heat of
June withers the flora in your yard? Dave Sielken
has been joined by new volunteer Patti Purcell
on the Tillie the Tank Team. The two of them take turns
watering plantings in EE to keep them flourishing. Betty
and Jerry Payne have been keeping an eye on the
watering system that supports newly planted trees and bushes in
Esperanza (Flag/Snake) Park. A big thank-you to these EE
neighbors for their dedication. |
